Serious Crash Criminal Charges 22 Mar 14

A 19-year-old St. Peter woman is now facing felony charges in connection with a serious car crash near Lake Crystal last February. Amy Weinandt was 18 when the crash occurred on February 16th of 2013. She had allegedly been drinking at a party in rural Lake Crystal that night, and was driving the wrong way on Highway 60 at around 3:30am when she crashed head-on into a pickup truck. Weinandt and her 3 passengers were all seriously injured, and she has now been charged with 4 counts of criminal vehicular operation. One of her passengers recently filed a personal injury lawsuit against Weinandt as well. Michael Fletcher is demanding $300,000 for lost wages as well as the permanent injury and scarring he suffered. A trial in that case is set to begin October 1st, and Weinandt is scheduled to make her first appearance in court for the criminal charges on April 10th.
