US Senator Al Franken held his annual “Hotdish-Off” competition on Wednesday in Washington DC, and southern Minnesota Congressman Tim Walz was the winner for the second year in a row. This was the 4th year that Franken held the friendly competition. Every member of Minnesota’s congressional delegation had a hotdish or casserole in the competition this year, and Walz won with his “Turkey Trot Tator Tot Hotdish” – a blend of Hormel bacon, fresh green beans and Jennie-O ground turkey. It was the unanimous favorite. Last year Walz won with his “Herman the German Hotdish” made with brats and Schell’s Beer. Tying for second this year was Senator Amy Klobuchar’s “It’s So Cold My Hotdish Froze” dessert hotdish and Representative John Kline’s “Morning Hot Chow Hotdish.
