Declining enrollment is leading the Le Sueur-Henderson School Board to consider cutting around $130,000 in staffing for next school year. The school Board was presented a list of recommended cuts Monday night at a meeting in which more than 50 parents and educators were on hand. The school district’s projected fund balance is down by 65% due to declining enrollment. The recommended cuts and adjustments to restore that fund balance to around $300,000 include eliminating several teaching and para-professional positions, restructuring a program that partners Le Sueur-Henderson with Minnesota State Mankato, and shuffling some positions to other locations, amongst other changes. The school board is expected to formally vote on the proposals at its April 7th meeting.
