The New Ulm Human Rights Commission has announced the latest recipient of the annual Human Rights Award. The award recognizes people, community organizations or businesses in New Ulm who have contributed significantly to the preservation and advancement of Human Rights. This year, the commission has chosen retired teacher Ingrid Liedman due to her work with the Peace Corp in Tanzania and her involvement in hosting foreign exchange students. As a teacher she shared a world-view that emphasizes human rights with her students as well. A reception to honor Ingrid Liedman will be held on Thursday, March 27th at 4:30pm at the Lind House in New Ulm, with an award ceremony at 5pm. The public and all her former students are invited.
