It’s Fasching weekend in New Ulm as the community celebrates the German Mardi Gras, and the New Ulm Narren captured the mayor Friday afternoon to kick off the festivities. The Narren read a proclamation stating that no one should work for the weekend as the celebration got underway. Fasching takes place from Noon to 10 today (SAT) at Turner Hall in New Ulm, and features the music of the Concord Singers, the Wendinger Band, and Dale Dahmen and the Polka Beats. Bock Fest is from 11 to 4:30 today at New Ulm’s August Schell Brewery, and the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame Parade of Bands and Concertina Jamboree is happening from Noon to 6 on Sunday at Turner Hall in New Ulm.
