The Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial School District is expecting a 15% growth in enrollment over the next 10 years, and in response the district’s school board on Monday voted to spend $12-million to expand their secondary school and elementary school buildings. The plan includes a new gym, classroom, cardio room, and wrestling room as part of the additions. The district would also move sixth-grade students to the secondary school, and develop a grades 6-8 middle school concept. The Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial School Board will now send the plan to the Minnesota Department of Education for review, and if approved the School District will hold a special election on August 12th for the public to approve the project. The goal is to have the work completed by January of 2016.
