The melting snow has revealed three small handmade explosives on the playground of a Waseca elementary school. The Waseca Police Department responded to the playground at Hartley Elementary School twice last week. They found two explosives early in the week, and then a third crammed inside a stuffed animal on Friday. Investigators say the devices appeared to have been there for a while. One was already detonated, a bomb squad detonated a second one, and a third failed to ignite. No one was hurt. Police say it’s not immediately clear whether the devices were intentionally left on the playground to hurt kids. Anyone with information is asked to call (507)835-9720.
