There will be extra law enforcement officers out on area roadways this weekend to make sure that everyone is buckled up. The latest “Click It Or Ticket” campaign gets underway Friday and runs through March 30th. During that time police officers, sheriff’s deputies and state troopers will be working extra hours enforcing seatbelt and child restraint laws. Authorities say that wearing your seatbelt properly, and correctly using child restraints each and every time you are in a vehicle can be a matter of life or death. The Click It Or Ticket campaign also often includes having spotters on a sidewalk watching for violations, and then contacting officers to stop those drivers. Local authorities say that this more-than week-long effort to enforce our state’s seatbelt laws is a prelude to the annual statewide seatbelt enforcement campaign in May.
