NU City Council Meeting Recap 05 Feb 14

The New Ulm City Council on Tuesday approved a request that brings a co-op grocery store for the community closer to a reality. The council agreed to amend an existing Conditional Use Permit for the former Tauschek’s Grocery building at 526 South Minnesota Street in order for it to be used as a cooperative grocery store. In other business, the council received a report on the 2013 New Ulm Archery Deer Hunt. A total of 61 deer were taken from Flandrau State Park in the city limits last year, a number which City Manager Brian Gramentz says is about the same as the year before. The council also appointed New Ulm Resident Donna Shipp to the Economic Development Authority and City Councilor Lisa Fischer to the Heritage Preservation Commission, and accepted an Orion GPS tracking system from the Eagan Police Department to be used for court-approved, covert tracking of criminal suspects.
