Man Charged For Police Shooting 12 Feb 14

A Dassel man has been charged for his involvement in a police officer-involved shooting that occurred at an apartment in Hutchinson last October. Twenty-four-year-old Justin Thomas Delare is charged with one felony count of attempting to disarm a peace officer. The shooting took place at 8:30am on October 25th when Sgt. Eric Kilian responded to a multi-unit residence on High Street North East in Hutchinson following a 911 call involving a suspicious person.After a confrontation, Delare suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. Sgt. Kilian was not injured and returned to work after an investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and McLeod County Attorney’s Office found that his actions were appropriate. The Hutchinson Police Department then conducted their own investigation, and requested charges be filed against Delare.
