Students at Sibley East High School in Arlington were evacuated Tuesday morning after a fire broke out in the school’s Industrial Arts area. The fire apparently started at around 10:30am, and students were evacuated to a church across the street. Sibley East Superintendent Jim Amsden is proud of the reaction of school staff. He says they reacted properly and followed all emergency procedures to keep students safe. Firefighters from Arlington and Gaylord quickly contained and extinguished the fire, and students were back in class by 12:30. No firefighters or students were injured, and the fire has been ruled accidental, although the cause has not been released. School officials are still assessing the damages.
