The State Patrol continues to investigate the fatal accident that occurred in New Ulm early Saturday morning. 27-year-old Randyn Groebner of New Ulm was killed at the scene of the rollover crash on Highway 14 on the west end of New Ulm. Groebner was a passenger in a 2005 Mini-Cooper driven by 22-year-old Liam Kelly of New Ulm. The Patrol says that Kelly was driving westbound on 14 when he lost control at just before 4am and the car went off the road and hit a snow bank, causing it to roll several times and hit a light pole. Kelly and his other passenger, 27-year-old Ryan Kelly were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. They have both apparently undergone surgery and have been listed in satisfactory condition. The State Patrol is investigating the crash because alcohol was detected in the driver’s system.
