Congress Discusses Target Breach 04 Feb 14

A hearing Monday afternoon in Washington DC was focusing on the massive holiday season data breach at Target, and other similar breaches. The Senate Banking Subcommittee was asking if Target, as well as Neiman Marcus and Michaels, had correct protections in place for customers. The committee is looking at how to improve the current credit card security system, including how Congress can work with law enforcement to go after computer hackers and thefts, and what they can do to get ahead of future security and privacy threats.  Representatives from the Secret Service, the Bureau of Consumer Protection, the Federal Trade Commission, and the National Retail Federation were expected to testify.
