The search for a new Belle Plaine city administrator continues, with a total of 37 applications being received for the position. The review of the applications got underway this week, and city councilors and staff will be meeting with a representative from hiring advisor Springsted next Tuesday to begin the process of narrowing the candidates down to a group of finalists. The Belle Plaine city administrator job has been vacant since the city council terminated long-time administrator David Murphy last August. A total of 17 applications were initially received to replace Murphy, and the council interviewed 3 finalists, but opted to not hire any of them. Instead a new job description was created for the position before re-posting the vacancy.
