The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting this week, and the 2014 “Spirit Of Springfield” award was presented to Doctor FJ Boyle. Doctor Boyle was given the award for his service, dedication, and insight into the community of Springfield. He moved to Springfield in 1959, and opened his clinic, and was a strong supporter of the merger of Springfield physicians into one clinic building in 1982. He also served as medical director at the Springfield Hospital and St. John’s Nursing Home for more than 2 decades prior to retiring from medicine in 1995. Doctor Boyle also played baseball for the Springfield Tigers in the late 1950′s, and has volunteered his time with numerous organizations over the years.
