2013 Preliminary MN Fire Deaths 04 Feb 14

Preliminary numbers from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety show there were 43 residential fire fatalities in 2013–down from 50 in 2012. State Fire Marshal Bruce West says while the numbers may change, the causes often stay the same, including smoking and unattended cooking. West says you should never leave the stove unattended. He also recommends installing smoke alarms on every level of your home–and replacing the batteries at least once a year.
