A Willmar teen has been sentenced to the secure program at Prairie Lakes Detention Center for the death of 79-year-old Lila Warwick. Sixteen-year-old Devon Jenkins pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for his role in the July 2013 killing. He was ordered to complete the secure and non-secure programs and serve probation until he’s 21. Jenkins was given a 15-year adult sentence which was stayed as long as he’s law abiding and remains drug- and alcohol-free. Prosecutors say he was the getaway driver for Brok Junkermeier, who’s charged with first-degree murder in the case. His trial is set to start March 25th. Warwick’s grandson, 19-year-old Robert Warwick is also charged with murder for her death. Jenkins has already served 181 days at Prairie Lakes since the crime occurred.
