State Hospital Dr. Threatens Patient 23 Jan 14

Minnesota’s commissioner of human services has determined that a state psychiatrist in St. Peter committed emotional maltreatment by threatening a mentally ill patient with electroshock therapy. Commissioner Lucinda Jesson says that Dr. James Christensen’s remark to a patient at the Minnesota Security Hospital was “inconsistent with the manner expected of a professional caregiver” and that “the conversation constitutes abuse.” Christensen was warned he will be disqualified from working for the state if he commits further maltreatment in the next seven years. He has denied making the threat.
