A Springfield man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting Brown County Sheriff’s deputies while being taken into custody for domestic assault. A witness told police that 63-year-old John A. Jenniges had assaulted an individual at a residence in Brown County’s North Star Township, and that he could be found at a home in Springfield. While being arrested, Jenniges allegedly made threats and resisted, and even broke out a rear window of a police squad car in an effort to open the door. One deputy reportedly suffered a sprained arm muscle, and another a nose bleed during the struggle with Jenniges, who was eventually subdued with a Taser. He has been charged with felony domestic assault and assault as well as obstructing the legal process and criminal damage to property.
