Springfield Card Fraud Sentence 16 Jan 14

A Springfield woman charged with credit card fraud was convicted this week in Brown County Court and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a year of supervised probation. 60-year-old Paulette J. Fischer had been accused of using another person’s debit card without permission to make over $600 in purchases at Tauer’s SuperValu in Springfield. The victim told police that Fischer was the only person who knew where the card was kept, and surveillance footage from Tauer’s showed Fischer using the card to purchase 6 prepaid gift cards on the days the unauthorized transactions took place. Fischer’s jail time will be stayed if she pays restitution, and she will also be required to continue outpatient gambling treatment and receive assistance managing her finances.
