The recent cold snap put a damper on blood donations across the state, and the American Red Cross is encouraging eligible donors to help boost donations. Spokesperson Sue Thesenga says Minnesota blood drive cancellations in January resulted in a shortfall of nearly 8,400 blood and platelet donations. Today (MON) the Bloodmobile will be at the Eagles Orchid Inn of Sleepy Eye from 1 to 7pm, the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur from 10 to 4, and the Cologne Community Center from 1:30 to 6:30. On Tuesday you can Give The Gift Of Life at the Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center from 12:30 to 6:30 and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Elysian from Noon to 6. The New Ulm Recreation Center Vogel Fieldhouse is hosting blood drives from 1 to 7 on Wednesday and Thursday and 8 to 1 on Friday, and the Knights of Columbus in New Prague have a blood drive from 12:30 to 6:30 on Friday as well.
