The Blue Earth County Board has been found to be in contempt of court over an ongoing pay dispute with county attorneys. Martin County Judge Robert Walker on Monday found that board members were in contempt after an order to file a new budget with higher salaries for assistant county attorneys was not followed. The judge had sent the matter back to the Board to adjust the salaries in September, but county commissioners instead went to the Court of Appeals. A motion by the Board to delay the ruling came after the deadline for adjusting the salaries, however, and the judge ruled on Monday that the county board has until February 15th to comply with the initial court order to adjust the attorney salaries and file the new budget with the court. The Board’s request to stay the enforcement of the ruling was denied as well.
