Brown County Officials Get Raises 03 Jan 14

The Brown County Board on Tuesday unanimously voted to give themselves a raise this year. The resolution sets the Board’s 2014 salaries at $22,236, a 2% hike over 2013. The $1,000 of additional annual pay for the board chairman was kept the same, along with commissioner’s daily per-diem of $60. The Board approved several other salary increases as well. Brown County Sheriff Rich Hoffmann will receive a 3.7% pay hike this year, bringing his annual salary to $89,200. The Brown County Auditor-Treasurer and the county recorder will each see 2% pay increases, Brown County Family Services Director Tom Henderson is getting a 2.6% pay hike, the highway engineer will get a 2.7% bump, and Brown County Administrator Chuck Enter is getting a 3.2% raise, bringing his salary to $105,000. In other business, the Board agreed to accept around 5,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil from the Mankato City Center Project for the Brown County Landfill, where it will be used as a daily cover. The risk from the contaminated soil is said to be “manageable.”
