A portion of Highway 14 between Mankato and North Mankato was shut down for nearly an hour Tuesday morning when as many as 20 cars were blocking the eastbound lanes. The multi-car pileup took place shortly before 7am, but the Minnesota State Patrol says that once officials began clearing the scene, even though there were around 20 cars blocking the highway, only around 6 or 7 cars had actually collided. One minor injury was reported. Officials say that the cars involved were driving too fast for the icy road conditions at the time. Part of the interchange of Highway 14 eastbound at Highway 169 was shut down for most of an hour as well as numerous tow trucks rushed to the scene to clear the cars off the highway.
