The Minnesota State Patrol was busy on Wednesday, with hundreds of crashes across the state. State troopers handled at least 368 crashes in Minnesota on Wednesday, including one fatal crash and 44 that involved injuries. The fatal crash involved a 16-year-old Lakeville girl. Two semis jack-knifed during the slippery road conditions Wednesday as well, including one on Highway 4 near Fairfax, and a total of 462 drivers spun out or slid into ditches in just that single day.
A Sleepy Eye man was injured Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his semi-truck on Highway 4 south of Fairfax. 43-year-old Jose Rodriguez lost control of the truck on some ice at around 2:45pm Wednesday and it jack-knifed and went off the road. He was treated at the Fairfax Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries and the semi was able to be driven from the scene.
