The New Ulm District 88 School Board is holding a Truth In Taxation hearing this (THU) evening to discuss the district’s proposed budget and property tax levy for 2014. District 88 Superintendent Jeff Bertrang says that while the tax levy had initially been set to increase by almost 1%, it is now set to go down by around $33,000 next year, or about a half-percent drop. The school board is scheduled to approve the budget and tax levy following the Truth In Taxation Hearing. The board will also be considering the allocation of $4,500 in Community Service funds to Community And Seniors Together. The meeting starts at 6:30pm today at the District Administrative Center in New Ulm.
