New Gaylord Water Tower Setback 20 Dec 13

The City of Gaylord continues to search for a location for a new water tower for the community after the Sibley County Board rejected a request to purchase the city’s preferred location earlier this week. Gaylord had wanted to purchase a parcel of land at the County Service Center site in west Gaylord for the proposed 400,000-gallon water tower, but the county board voted 3-2 to reject the purchase request due to possible future plans for the site. Alternative locations for a new water tower are now being discussed, with construction planned for next year. Gaylord’s current water tower was built in 1917 and has a 75,000 gallon capacity.
