Mn/DOT Announces 20-Year Plan 26 Dec 13

Mn/DOT has rolled out its 20-year “State Highway Investment Plan,” and Spokesperson Kevin Gutknecht says it’s constrained by limited funding. Gutknecht says in the first ten years, there are projects to improve safety, enhance quality of life and support economic development — plus a lot of work preserving existing roads and bridges. In the second ten years Gutknect says the program will focus on preserving what we have. He says Mn/DOT expects $18-billion in revenue over the next 20 years, but says it will cost $30-billion to maintain Minnesota’s road and bridge system as it is today.
