A lawsuit has been filed against a St. Peter woman accused of causing a serious car crash on Highway 60 near Lake Crystal last February. Amy Weinandt was 18 when the crash occurred. She was allegedly driving the wrong way on the highway at around 3:30am when she crashed head-on into a pickup truck. The lawsuit against Weinandt has been filed by one of her passengers, Michael Fletcher of Mankato. He is demanding $300,000 for permanent injury and scarring and lost wages. The State Patrol had claimed that alcohol was detected in Weinandt’s system following the crash, as well as in all three of her passengers and the driver of the pickup truck. Weinandt received the most serious injuries in the collision. She was flown to St. Mary’s in Rochester while everyone else was treated in Mankato. No criminal charges have been filed against Weinandt for the crash at this time.
