Firefighters from St. Peter, Nicollet, North Mankato and Kasota were on the scene of a structure fire off Highway 169 just south of St. Peter Wednesday morning after a fire from the night before re-kindled. A metal workshop at the Darby and Rebecca Rasmussen residence near 7 Mile Creek Park had caught on fire Tuesday, and firefighters were then called back out to the building at just before 7am Wednesday. Crews arriving on the scene Wednesday morning reported heavy smoke coming out of the building, and there was reportedly ammunition being stored in the structure as well which was going off when firefighters were called out. There have been no reports of injuries, but the building is a complete loss. The fire is believed to have originated in a chimney. Traffic on northbound Highway 169 was being restricted to one lane while crews battled the fire Wednesday, causing some backups during the morning commute.
