Gophers Host Nebraska-Omaha Tonight
The Minnesota Golden Gopher men’s basketball team hosts the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks tonight at Williams Arena. The Gophers have won four in-a-row after their 75-59 win over South Dakota State on December 10th. Minnesota sits at 9-and-2 on the season. Nebraska-Omaha is 8-and-3. Tipoff tonight is 8 p.m. There are tickets still available for the game.
Gopher Women In Action
The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team has a Friday matinee on the docket today at Williams Arena. The Golden Gophers are hosting their own three-team, round robin invitational Minnesota plays UCLA today at noon at the Barn. UCLA will then play Auburn tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Williams Arena. And, Minnesota will tip off against Auburn on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Barn. The Gophers are 9-and-2, UCLA is 4-and-5, and Auburn enters the weekend at 8-and-3.
Gophers Preparing For Bowl Game
Golden Gopher football coach Jerry Kill says he’s satisfied with the way his team is handling bowl preparation this week. Minnesota plays Syracuse next Friday in the Texas Bowl in Houston. The Gophers leave for Texas tomorrow. In the meantime, they are working out indoors at the on-campus football facility. Kill says they are not only preparing for Syracuse and slowly implementing strategic parts of the gameplan, but they are also focusing on getting practice time for the younger players to help them develop during the bowl training period. The Texas Bowl features the 8-and-4 Gophers against 6-and-6 Syracuse. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. one week from tonight.
