Inmate Conspiracy To Commit Murder 31 Dec 13

An Echo man in custody on burglary charges is now accused of attempting to hire a fellow jail inmate to silence a witness against him. 47-year-old Ronald James Andersen was being held in the Renville County Jail for charges out of Redwood County when he allegedly approached another inmate last week and tried to hire the man to either assault or kill a witness. That inmate went to authorities, however, who then fitted him with a surveillance wire and reportedly recorded Andersen offering the inmate $10,000 to make sure the witness didn’t testify. Andersen was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with a witness and first-degree assault on Monday and pleaded not guilty to all three charges. His next court date is February 7th. He’s now facing up to 20 years in prison.
