As the end of the year approaches, cities across the state are setting their final tax rates for 2014 following Truth In Taxation hearings. The Arlington City Council holds that community’s tax hearing this (MON) evening. City Administrator Liza Donabauer says that the preliminary tax levy for Arlington had been more than 4.8% due to health insurance increases and other factors, but the council was working on making cuts to that number. The Arlington Truth In Taxation hearing begins at just after 6pm today in the city council chambers. All Minnesota communities must certify their final property tax levies for 2014 by the end of the month.
