An 18-year-old Mankato man will be tried as an adult for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl while they were both teens staying at the CADA Shelter in Mankato. Abel Jonathan Rocha has been charged with 3 counts of 1st-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for the accusations, and faces up to 30 years in prison. The minimum sentence is 12 years. Rocha and the girl reportedly knew each other while staying at the Committee Against Domestic Abuse or ‘CADA’ House in Mankato, and he allegedly gave her pills before sexually assaulting her. Rocha was 17 when the alleged rape occurred in early 2012, but has now been certified as an adult and made his first court appearance as an adult on Tuesday. He remains in custody in the Blue Earth County Jail after being extradited back to Minnesota from Texas, and will be back in court December 26th.
