A Wells man was hospitalized Saturday night following a high-speed car chase with police around the Amboy area. 45-year-old Robert Raphael Schultz was pulled over by Amboy police for an equipment violation along Highway 169, but then reportedly took off along County Road 30. The chase went through some public hunting land before Schultz apparently crashed into the Blue Earth River. He then fled on foot, but was eventually found by a Fairmont K9 officer and taken into custody. He was treated at the Mankato Mayo Hospital before being taken to the Blue Earth County Jail, and is facing possible charges of fleeing in a motor vehicle, drug possession, and driving without a valid license. Nearly a dozen different law enforcement agencies assisted in his arrest, including officers from Faribault and Blue Earth counties as well as Fairmont, Lake Crystal, Mapleton and Winnebago.
