The Catholic Diocese of New Ulm has been named in a lawsuit alleging sexual misconduct by now-deceased priest Father William Marks. The lawsuit filed this week alleges that Father Marks sexually abused a male minor while serving at the Church of St. John in Hector. The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis was also named in the lawsuit. Father Marks served in Hector from 1954 to 1962, and died in 1979 at the age of 71. The Diocese of New Ulm will be investigating the claims in the new lawsuit but has no facts to report at this time. Anyone who has suffered sexual abuse, exploitation, or harassment by a priest, deacon, pastor, or pastoral administrator of the Diocese of New Ulm is asked to report such misconduct to the Diocese Victim Assistance Coordinator.
