McLeod Cty Jail Project Proceeds 02 Nov 13

The McLeod County Board has agreed to proceed with the proposed expansion and security upgrades at the county jail in Glencoe. The $7-million plan was recently approved with 2 modifications: that the north entrances to the courthouse be kept open, although modified to be secured when needed, and that Ives Avenue be kept open with the addition of parallel parking on one side of the street. Keeping Ives open will reportedly reduce site preparation costs and save McLeoud County around $100,000 overall. The project will not be finalized until the county board actually awards a bid for construction.
