Gustie Soccer Knocked Out of Tournament 18 Nov 13

The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team’s 2013 season came to an end in the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 1-0 loss to Westminster College on Sunday afternoon at the Gustie Soccer Field.  Westminster’s Mitch Stewart scored what was the eventual game-winning goal in the 26th minute, and the Blue Jay defense kept the Gusties out of the net for the remainder of the match.  Gustavus’s attackers hit Westminster’s back line with everything they had – especially in the second half – yet couldn’t find a way to put one past goalkeeper Raul Romero who posted his second consecutive shutout of the NCAA Tournament.

Gustavus ends its 2013 campaign with an overall record of 14-4-1, while Westminster heads to the “Sweet Sixteen” with an overall mark of 13-8-1.
