Minnesota’s firearms deer season opens this weekend, and things are gearing up for the Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener on Saturday in Fergus Falls. Governor Dayton helps kick off the weekend this (FRI) afternoon by hosting the “Big Buck” Hunters Luncheon at the Otter Tail County Fairgrounds. Dayton is not expected to take part in the hunt on Saturday, but he will wish the hunters well and announce the location of next year’s lunch. Around 1 in 8 Minnesota residents participates in deer hunting, about twice the national average. The sport generates more than $234-million per-year in direct sales.
