The US Foods plant in Fairmont will reportedly be closing down soon. US Foods purchased the facility from Hawkeye Foods in 2012, and it was Draper Foods for many years prior to Hawkeye Foods buying the plant. US Foods employees have reportedly been told that the plant is closing its doors January 31st. The operations will apparently be merged with US Foods facilities in Omaha, Plymouth and Iowa City. A company spokesperson has said that severance benefits will be available to qualifying employees who do not find employment opportunities within the company, but has not commented on how many employees will be affected by the closure.
