Minnesota’s firearms deer harvest is down 6% so far this season from the same point last year. Two weekends into the season, the DNR says hunters have registered 128,814 deer. The season ended Sunday for all but northeastern Minnesota, where it runs through this coming weekend. A late firearms season begins in southeastern Minnesota on Saturday as well, and runs through December 1st. DNR officials say that the weather on the past two weekends probably had an impact on the deer harvest. Minnesota’s wolf season opened at the same time as the firearms deer season. The northeast zone was closed Sunday. Hunters registered 31 wolves there.
