The Veterans’ Memorial in Winnebago, which was dedicated in August, will be fixed to correct mistakes that were made on the memorial.
One of the mistakes is a ‘v’ and ‘i’ are transposed in the word ‘service’. Also, a veteran’s name is misspelled. The face of the stones will be polished down and then Blue Earth Monuments will make the corrections.
Officials say that job could take 30-40 days. Once the stone is returned, landscaping is scheduled to be done and about another 30 names are to be added. Inclusion on the stone is open to any veteran, living or deceased, who was honorably discharged from any branch of the service and has ties to Winnebago.
