Whooping Cough Cases On The Rise 09 Oct 13

The Minnesota Department of Health says there were more than 4,000 confirmed cases of whooping cough last year, and outbreaks of the bacterial infection are again being reported nationwide. Pediatrician Dr. Thomas Boyce says that pertussis is easily spread from an infected person to another person. Boyce says the bacterial infection can be mild in adults, but if an unvaccinated baby is infected, whooping cough can be extremely serious and recovery can take months.
