A Waseca native is recovering after being wounded in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan. US Army Ranger Tom Block was critically injured Sunday when a homemade bomb went off in southern Afghanistan. The 27-year-old is being treated at a hospital in Germany, and is reportedly alert and responsive. Block lost his right eye in the explosion, and his left eye was injured and facial bones were broken. He was in critical but stable condition as of Monday, and was being transferred to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center today (TUE). Four soldiers were killed in the explosion that injured Block.
