Two men are being investigated by several law enforcement agencies for allegedly using a tow truck to steal automobiles. The Mankato Department of Public Safety says they became aware of the thefts when a woman who lives in the 200 block of Owatonna Street reported a pickup and a Jaguar had been stolen from her residence. Responding officers said there were marks on the ground that made them suspect a tow truck was used to take the vehicles.
Two days later, William Darko of Mankato reported his black tow truck had been stolen. However, officials learned that he and Charles Edward Madison of St. Paul were wanted in Faribault for allegedly using a tow truck to steal a car from a farm. The men have not been charged in Blue Earth County, but a search warrant was issued so authorities could search the tow truck after it was found. Several law enforcement agencies are investigating this case.
