A farewell get-together was held Monday night in New Ulm to say goodbye to the latest New Ulm Sister Cities Hans Joohs Exchange intern from Germany. Sabrina Svechla has spent around 3 months in New Ulm, and says that she is sad to be leaving next week. She says that her biggest surprise in coming to America was to find the New Ulm is more German than Germany. Sabrina worked for the August Schell Brewery while in New Ulm. Her host families were Brian and Mary Lou Serbus, Bob and Jess Webb, and Bruce and Janet Lokensgard, and Jensen Motors provided her with a vehicle during her time here. She says that one of her favorite experiences while here was going to the Minnesota State Fair, along with attending professional sporting events, travelling around Minnesota and to Colorado, and working as a “Pretzel Girl” during Oktoberfest.
