A proposal is being considered in Renville County to allow recreational vehicles to share county roads with cars and trucks. All-terrain vehicles, small utility trucks and golf carts would be able to drive on the right side of gravel or paved county roads, provided their owners obtain a county-issued permit, which is free.
The ordinance is being proposed by a county trail committee. Director of Renille County’s Environment and Community Development Department told the board of commissioners says one of the goals is to take advantage of the economic opportunity that recreational vehicles represent.
Commissioners would designate which of the roads are included and they could continue to ban vehicles on roads that see heavy traffic.
