A guilty plea from the 28-year-old Renville man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend was rejected in court Wednesday, and a Grand Jury will now be convened. Andrew Dikken is currently charged with 2 counts of 2nd-Degree Murder for the September 2nd shooting death of 26-year-old Kara Monson in her Granite Falls home. 28-year-old Chris Panitzke of Redwood Falls died a few days later from his gunshot wounds, after allegedly identifying Dikken as his attacker. Dikken had attempted to plead guilty to both charges Wednesday in exchange for a 52-year prison sentence, but prosecutors rejected the plea and called for a Grand Jury to consider 1st-degree murder charges, which will lead to the possibility of Dikken spending the rest of his life in prison. Dikken was the focus of a two-week manhunt after the shooting, and remains in custody with bail set at $3-million. A date for the Grand Jury to convene has not been set at this time.
