Shots were fired during a confrontation with a Hutchinson police officer Friday morning. The officer was responding to a report of a suspicious male sleeping in the entryway of the Fairlane apartment complex in Hutchinson at shortly after 8am when there was a brief confrontation and shots were fired. Police Chief Dan Hatten says that the suspect, an adult male, was taken to Hutchinson Health for treatment and the officer was not injured. Further details have not been released at this time. The incident is under investigation by Hutchinson Police Services, the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
