A New Ulm woman recently accused of scamming an elderly Springfield woman out of tens of thousands of dollars was charged with an additional 14 felony counts in Brown County Court this week for wrongfully obtaining public assistance. 51-year-old Karla Rae Townsend allegedly received around $24,000 worth of food support and medical-assistance overpayments after failing to report the extra income she was receiving from the elderly woman she was also stealing money from. Townsend is due to make an appearance in court on the new charges on November 12th.
